She:
I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.
He:
Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the young women.

I read through song of songs and and I felt like I had a question mark over my head the whole time. Why is that book even in the bible? It doesn't really sound like the word of God. Is it a parallell? Was there a moral to it that I missed?

Hi Lou--it's Laurie. I'm on Blogger now. :D

I think that what you have to do w/ Song of Solomon (unless you're married), is to picture the guy as Jesus and yourself as the lady--part of the redeemed church. After all, the Bible does say that the Church of Christ is His bride...so it kind of takes on a whole new meaning. Also, it's nice to think of some of the verses as wonderful promises from God to you. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Songs 2:10-13. Quite beautiful.

Hope this helped some! Merry Christmas, and wish we could see you!
