I'm finally in Deuteronomy! Moses is telling the Israelites about what happened earlier in Numbers. I wonder why he had to tell the people these things. Is it very important? Why do they need to remember it? Does it have anything to do with our lives? Moses talked about all the wars and how know one could stop them. And every thing all over again!

Oh, I read this, and wondered myself, so I looked it up.
I was excited to study this passage...
I think moses tells them this for a good reason (and it is written for us to learn, too, because we also are adopted children of abraham!!)
Just think what he is telling them, it is their history. He reminds them of thier successes, but that the LORD was teh one who gave them the land (see Deut. 1:8)
Moses ALSO reminds the isrealites of their foolish disobedience and the consequences, see chap 1 verse 26-45, where the isrealites are to afraid to take the Land that God told them to take, and so they didn't obey his commands, and there were consequences...
So, they are reminded of how God was GOOD and MIGHTY and how they won battles when HE was the leader, and of how they FAILED MISERABLY when they disobeyed.
So, I think these were important things that Moses told them, and important things for us to study, too.

I like your blog, btw, but I'm not on here often b/c I'm busy...
if you don't know me, Meggy can tell you who I am.
